If I wasn’t horrendously diseased this would be perfect. #hammock #temeraire #black powder war (at Kaprun)
Have I ever mentioned that I love to draw on skin? Especially when I am listening to lectures, in school or something like this and I magically always seem to have a biro with me?
This may be a try to picture Maximus from the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik. Maybe.

He looked down, his fingers caught on the delicate pages of the books, and he traced the embossed lines of the heavy cover, leather stamped with gilt. It was the same book under his hands, with the salt wind in his face, and Temeraire at his side; nothing had changed outwardly, and yet he felt as wholly altered as if he had been reborn, since the last time he had set foot upon the deck of a ship. It seemed that a tide, coming in high and fast, had swept clean the sand.
‘Laurence?’ Temeraire said. ‘Would you prefer another?’
‘No, my dear,’ Laurence said. ‘This will do very well.’Victory of Eagles - Naomi Novik
Oh, don’t mind me, I just have a lot of Temeraire feels atm. VoE is definitely my favourite book of the series.
He could not help a certain resentment that a conscience seemed to be so very expensive, and yet had no substantial form which one might admire, and display to one’s company.
Temeraire fanart commission!
When Leigh found out someone wanted this, she basically offered to help me with the designs. She’s read the entire series up to the latest book, so she knows how the characters act and all that. Me? I haven’t read them yet ^^;
But since there’s no official art of characters besides book covers (which mostly feature dragons anyway), I went and did research on British Napoleonic-era uniforms to come up with what these two humanized dragons would look like.
And then Leigh said that Iskierka apparently loves to dress/do things lavishly, so I added make-up, earrings, jewels and flicks of gold trim on those shoulder pads xD
And fu manchu on Temeraire because he’s got those whisker-things :P
I just read a few interviews with Naomi Novik and the working title of the next Temeraire book is “Luck and Palaces”, taking place in 1812. Supposedly there will only be two more books in the series and possible a short story collection.
:(
Alright guys, one of my favorite authors is contributing to the Tome of Ideas for Writers. If you’re like me and are always stuck on writing, you should definitely look at this. It looks really awesome, and I’m really excited. You can find the Kickstarter page here

i bet all throughout Crucible of Gold Tharkay would have these constant chills up his spine like he knows just exactly how wrong things went without him.
